A loving alternative for pregnant & parenting teen girls
One Girl's Story
One recent success story from Magdalene Home is a young mother we'll call "Kelsey."
Kelsey came to us at age 17, homeless, pregnant, and recovering from drug abuse. She is a bright, personable young woman who desperately needed a safe and nurturing home. Kelsey struggles with celiac disease, a serious allergy to gluten and wheat. While at Magdalene Home, we helped her learn to cook healthy meals for herself, to shop for the right foods, and to access recipes and nutrition information on the Internet.
Kelsey had a difficult pregnancy and was in-hospital and on bed rest repeatedly, and finally gave birth to her healthy, 4-pound baby 7 weeks early. She readily acknowledges that her precious baby would not be alive today were it not for Magdalene Home!
Kelsey now lives in her own apartment with her baby, has been excelling in online college classes and is enrolling for a local college next term. We keep in touch frequently and look forward to her visits!
